Sint-Idesbald is located on the West coast.

The West Coast includes the small but cozy seaside resorts of De Panne, Koksijde, Nieuwpoort and Middelkerke. Once you leave the beach and the dyke, leave the dunes, mud flats and mud behind you, you enter a polder landscape, with unique nature reserves and leafy forests: ‘the Westhoek’, an unspoiled piece of Flanders with small but beautiful towns and villages.

The Westhoek also charms by the many towns and villages full of stories. And those who seek ‘the great war’ in the Westhoek become silent with thousands of young names on dead letter stones.

The West Flemish hills extend south of Ypres. You can expect treacherous slopes, beautiful hollow roads, forest woods and above all wide views. The Westhoek basks between the North Sea and the invisible ‘Schreve’, as is called the border with France.

Koksijde-Oostduinkerke has joined the Top 10 of sustainable European resorts. “Koksijde has retained its local identity, its natural and cultural heritage, its natural beauty and a clean environment.” After the Azores, Ierapetra (Crete) received the prize for the 2nd place and the islands of Gozo and Comino (Malta) the 3rd prize. Koksijde became 9th.
